Headache & Migraine Relief in Chicago
A lot of headaches start in the neck or from plain tension, and those respond well to chiropractic. If you keep reaching for pain pills, there is usually a better answer, and it is drug-free.
What Your Headaches Feel Like
Not every headache is the same, but the ones we help most have a familiar pattern. The pain often grips like a tight band around the head, or it climbs up from the base of the skull and settles behind the eyes. When a stiff neck shows up with the headache, that is a strong clue the two are connected.
If this keeps happening week after week, it is not just bad luck. It is a sign your neck and the muscles around it need attention, not another dose of medicine.
- A tight band of pressure wrapped around your head
- Pain that climbs up from the base of the skull
- Headaches that come with a stiff, sore neck
- The same headache coming back again and again
- Sensitivity to light or sound when it hits
What Causes Them
Most of the headaches we treat trace back to the neck and the muscles that hold up your head. When the joints in your neck lose their normal motion, and the muscles around them stay tight, that tension travels up into the head and turns into a headache. The nerves at the top of the neck are wired right into the areas where you feel the pain.
Daily life feeds the problem. Hours hunched over a phone or screen, poor posture, stress that you carry in your shoulders, and clenching your jaw all keep those neck joints stuck and those muscles loaded. The headache is the result, and that is exactly what we go after.
Go After the Trigger, Not the Symptom
Find Out What Is Driving It
A focused exam tells us whether your neck is setting off the headaches. Dr. Juarez checks how your neck moves and finds the tight joints and muscles behind the pattern.
Remove the Trigger
Gentle chiropractic adjustments restore normal motion to the neck, and hands-on muscle work releases the tension that feeds the headache. Stubborn neck pain often eases at the same time.
Calm the Tension
Acupuncture can ease tension and how often the headaches come, so you lean on pain pills less and less.
When the Headache Starts in Your Neck
Two of the most common headaches we see, cervicogenic headaches and tension headaches, both begin in the neck. A cervicogenic headache is a headache that is literally referred from the neck: a joint or muscle at the top of the spine is irritated, and the pain spreads up over the head and behind the eyes. A tension headache works much the same way, with tight neck and shoulder muscles pulling that familiar band of pressure tighter and tighter.
This is why treating the neck so often eases the headaches. When we restore normal motion to the neck joints and release the muscles that have been working overtime, we remove the source the headache is feeding on. People are often surprised that the fix for their head was never in their head at all. It was in the neck the whole time, and that is something chiropractic is built to address.
Frequently Asked
Can a chiropractor really help my headaches?
For many people, yes. Tension headaches and headaches that start in the neck (cervicogenic) respond very well to chiropractic care. We can often ease how often and how hard they hit. We will not promise to cure every migraine, but we can usually reduce them and the medication you lean on.
How do you know if my neck is causing my headaches?
We check it. Your first visit is an exam where Dr. Juarez tests how your neck moves, finds the tight joints and muscles, and reproduces the pattern of your headaches. That tells us whether the neck is the trigger and what to do about it.
Will I have to take pain pills forever?
That is exactly what we are trying to change. Pain pills cover up the headache but never fix the cause. By treating the neck tension and joint motion that set the headache off, the goal is fewer headaches, so you reach for the pills far less often.
How long until I notice a difference?
Many patients feel meaningful relief within the first few weeks. How fast depends on how long the problem has been building and how much neck tension is involved. Dr. Juarez will give you a realistic timeline after your exam.
Is the treatment safe and gentle?
Yes. The adjustments are precise and gentle, and we tailor them to you. Chiropractic care is a drug-free, non-surgical option, and it is safe for the whole family.
